…to Oude Werf in the historic heart of the Cape Winelands’ capital of Stellenbosch. Here, on the site of our country’s first church – which coined our name: ‘the old churchyard’ – our intimate 58-room hotel blends contemporary comfort and period-inspired ambiance with the same easy, personal care we’ve offered guests for two centuries as South Africa’s oldest continuously-operating hotel. Welcome to our Stellenbosch landmark. Please come in!

Always exceeds expectations
This is truly a remarkable boutique hotel. I stay here twice yearly and have enjoyed every visit. The staff are excellent, the architecture is picturesque, and the rooms are very comfortable. The restaurant is very good and the wine list decent. There are many other options in Stellenbosch, but none better.

This was our fifth stay at the Oude Werf Hotel and it just continues to delight us. It is the epitome of where old meets new, with modern glass and aluminium used to offset the Cape dutch antiques and yellow-wood finishes. Valet parking and friendly staff make your stay memorable. Even though you are in the heart of Stellenbosch, it is quiet (rooms at the back, we stayed in 216). There is a courtyard with swimming pool, not heated. The breakfast buffet is excellent. We will be back.

Practically faultless. Historic hotel right in the centre of Stellenbosch. We had one of the older rooms (no ghost though) nicely appointed. Modern bathroom. Imperial size bed. Nespresso machine in the room. Breakfast ample in a beautiful setting under vines. Undercover parking.

Oldest but finest
One of the oldest hotels in South Africa, located in the heart of Stellenbosh, surrounded by shops, restaurants and Eikestad mall is not far. The staff is very welcoming, friendly, they have proposed on our last day a take-away breakfast box because we were leaving early. Choose a Modern room that is renovated. They have a free parking service. You can forget your car for 2 days because walking around the hotel is simply amazing.
