DINING AT OUDE WERF RESTAURANT
Food and drink at Oude Werf has been a Stellenbosch ‘institution’ for more than 200 years. The dishes of Tant Betjie Wium delighted her many famous guests in the early 1800’s and today, chef Albert van der Loo continues the tradition in a new restaurant which is undergoing some of its final finishing touches before its official re-opening in early 2015.
Built over the foundations of the Hotel’s famous 17th Century churchyard site (still visible today) the restaurant is centred on an open plan in-situ kitchen and dining area that spills out onto the Restaurant’s much-loved vine-covered courtyard, while a charming period-style lounge with bar and barista overlooks the central garden and pooldeck.
The Restaurant’s signature style is Cape Traditional food with a newer gourmet inspiration and features menus that offer classic dishes, flavours and ingredients of the area complemented by an extensive selection of wines from this celebrated region.
From easy breakfasts, light seasonal lunches, to hearty dinners or the baked delights of a signature old-style afternoon ‘high tea’, the Restaurant offers a sample of Cape cuisine in a relaxing, convivial setting that’s essentially Stellenbosch.
PLEASE NOTE: Our Restaurant is open for all meals. However, some décor elements, including our new water features and access to the archaeological site at the rear of the restaurant will only be available in early 2015.
